A letter to my dead girlfriend – m4w
Date: 2009-10-25, 1:36PM CDT

It has been a rough year darling. The ethereal power of Craig’s List will get this message to you I am sure, like in some sort of cheesy 80s movie.

Well back to the last year, you of course died at the beginning of it which put things to a sour start. I spent last night with your mum and dad, we went to that Italian place in Wicker Park, who on the surface seem to be coping. I had everyone get together for my 25th which went well, your ladies are on top form and I think some engagements are brewing. Ellen is turning up the heat on Steve who will soon be forced down to one knee as you predicted.

Last weekend I finally took the step of cleaning out your clothes from the closet, which is very barren now. I invited your friends over to take your what they liked, it was an awkward session. I think they took them more as a favor to me than anything else. Liz cried when we pulled out all of your shoes, Miranda joined in and then Catherine broke down. It was strange to stand in our bedroom surrounded by three crying girls. I made a joke about them crying for joy at the prospect of some free Manolo Blahniks which they didn’t seem to find very funny.

A few girls have put the moves on and as you know picking up women is not a forte of mine. It seems the grieving boyfriend seems to be a good angle. Who knew! I went on one date and spent it talking about you, the poor girl. You would have found it quite witty I think. No other dates to report, I am going against your orders to move on for now.

I found one of those hair tie things that somehow managed to squeeze into every crevice in the apartment. It was under the bed. I sat on the floor holding it and cried. Until then I had held everything together but it just all came flooding out.

Every morning when I wake up I forget for a fraction of a second that you are gone and I reach for you. All I ever find is the cold side of the bed. My eyes settle on the picture of us in Paris, on the bedside table, and I am overjoyed that even though the time was brief I loved you and you loved me.

Love,
P.

————————

this was an entry under Best of Craiglist. i can never remind myself enough to cherish each moment, and that no other moment is more real than the present one you are living. it is poignant to make a strong mental note that nothing lasts forever, including the borrowed time we’re all breathing this very second. cherish. love. live. be happy. Happy New Year to all. I hope 2010 treats us all well.

外面的世界/打起手鼓唱起歌 – 莫文蔚

beautiful reinterpretation of Qi Qin’s original. she has a way of enunciating her words. they sound very “wet”.

here’s the lead track 打起手鼓唱起歌

BUT, my favourite track off Karen Mok’s cover album of rather alternative Mandarin folk oldies/goodies has to be “半個月亮爬上來” where she goes operatic-electronic on the Chinese-Muslim folk song from Xin Jiang. sedap! sadly i dun think it’s any of the 主打歌s and she didn’t shoot an MV for it. it would have been a great premise for ethnic-pop visuals.

Bravehound Andrews’s latest mix “Criminal” is out after a long wait!! just when i needed new thumpa-thumpas for my workout (which by the way has been going great. my PT really pushes me hard each time, and i have aches in places i never knew existed. okay, i know i have a butt, but my butt was never this sore – not even when i was always squeezing my bottom and poising my head when in ballet class!)… but i digress!

along with the mix, i read that Andrew is no longer with Mark. they’ve been together for 7 years, an eternity in gay years really. they made sucha great handsome couple (in fact, if you follow Andrew’s photoblog, you’ll be pardoned for wondering if he has any less than handsome-looking friends), it’s sad for me to see them going separate ways cos i’ve been following their lifestory for a while now, and had always found them an inspiration – two strikingly gifted guys in a committed relationship – that it’s possible and a reality. it gave me hope.

i guess no one else, other than the parties involved, know best – when it’s time to move on. few things last forever so we must cherish when we have it tangible in our hands. it sucks whenever a long term relationship comes to an end. a part of you just dies. in a way, you feel like another person has died too. how can that be pain-free, no matter the reason?

but move on we must. and we will move on. i’ve seen it happen with E. it was so painful for her when she broke up with Ig, but every cell in me knew back then that she would feel better, and would find renewed faith in love. and look where she is now.

when the door shuts, another will open. just remember to open your heart.

Andrew, thanks for sharing your talent, and you will be fine. =)

Robin Thicke makes me hyperventilate. can’t get enough of this song. couldn’t wait for the album to hit local shores, so i bought the album off iTunes. it’s amazing. much better than his previous.

sex therapy is obviously working for him. he’s gonna be a daddy soon! congrats, RT!

p/s: on another note – anyone feels RT is JT’s doppleganger? JT could have done this song equally well, except i feel the music video will be much better and steamier. RT seems a bit try hard. okay that’s me being hypcritical! peace out~!

i just creamed in my geek dungarees. here’s the ultimate workstation, the Emperor 200, costing a whopping $40,000 (dun laugh, it’s got HEPA air filtration system at the top hor! also comes with ambience lighting, THX surround sound system, and a built-in dildo! <--- joking oni!). apparently the Prince of Dubai has ordered 10 of these for his office. i also want!! i want 10 scorpions in my office!! actually, i dun have that much space in the home office. not even sure if i can fit one of these in!! HAHAHA.

NovelQuest will be launching their latest model, the Emperor 150, today – which is one-tenth of the cost of the Emperor 200, at a very reasonable >$5000! with a workstation like this, the only time you’ll be leaving it is to pee and crap. or maybe a toilet and bidet are options available?

watch this wicked machine in action.

Ze Bunny on Straits Times!

WOOHOO~! can i just begin by saying this is like, totally MINDBLOWINGLY MINDBLOWING!?!? so Straits Times interviewed me for their X’mas Special a couple of weeks ago, followed by a photoshoot last week (real fun and thankfully the dark clouds held up!) but I didn’t expect that it’ll be this HUGE (sorry trees!). I scared myself shitless when I flipped open the papers this morning (just before i went to bed actually, and then i had trouble getting to sleep so i was so scared and excited at the same time)!

i’ve received quite a few varied comments about the article and they ranged from: “CONGRATS!!!” to “NICE WHEELS!” to “YOU LOOK PRIM PROPER AND RESERVED!” to “YOU LOOK A LIL COCK-EYED!” to “YOU LOOK CONSTIPATED!” and the funniest of the lot: “YOU DUN LOOK LIKE YOU BUT I ONLY KNEW IT WAS YOU COS I RECOGNISED THOSE PIERRE HARDY SHOES!!!!”

whatever the comments, thank you for sharing the excitement. =)) i do agree the smile appeared a tad lethargic and “forced”. my smile is usually bigger and brighter (ahem)…. but that’s cos we friggin’ took over a 100 shots!! try smiling for 2 hours. you’d get stiff-mouth too hor! if there’s any consolation, i think Ziyi Zhang looked fat a few pages after me. *evil laughter*

forcedsmile

I would like to thank Phei Phei & Jun Liang for the very flattering article and the opportunity to be part of this feature spread. also, everyone who has sms-ed, called, tweeted and FB-ed about the article. special thanks to my Ah Mah who went out to the market to grab a copy early in the morning although she doesn’t read English. and Elaine for grabbing a copy and lugging it around in the plastic bag the whole day. hahaha.

the photos i’ve uploaded to FB got downscaled, so they weren’t very clear. here’s a bigger image of the text for those who requested to have a better view of the article.

Busy Weekend

This is going to be another busy weekend. Tonight alone, 2 parties. and the latter with free flow champagne. woohoo!

gonna squeeze in a gym session in a bit to notch up my metabolic rate before pigging out on canapes and shampoo tonight. changed my gym routine to include more compound lower body exercises. i’m aching all over as a result in places i never knew existed. pain is good. pain will get you far.

didn’t get to materialise our Durian Escapade last night – every stall was effin closed! either they had very few durians in stock, or they’d made their kill selling each thorned bomb at $80 a pop. or both. we did get to see Rain’s very single eyelids in The Ninja Assassin tho. I think his zero-% body fat is making those lids look even more anaemic. hahaha. and from some angles, he looked like JaJaBinks.

Are the first round of positive reviews of Avatar’s London Premiere to be trusted? i remain skeptical about the out-of-this-world efx that’s being boasted. the trailer is anything but. we’ll see next week.

Kenji’s 29th

i haven’t done one of these photo collages for a really long time, i think i almost forgot how to make them! here are some really nice shots we took at the simple celebrative dinner at Wild Honey (proclaiming it my latest favouritest haunt!). or maybe i should say “breakfast”? Wild Honey serves all-day breakfast, all the way until 930pm! yep, it’s the PERFECT place to go to when you need a hearty breakfast at 8pm. just what workaholics with screwed up sleeping patterns like me ordered! they have a varied menu of breakfasts from all over the world (Tunisian, Japanese, Vietnamese, European, Mexican, etc!) – so you not only fill your tummy and soul cos the food is soooo good, you also “travel” a little for a taste of foreign gastronomia.

didn’t get to spend Kenji’s actual birthday with him, and a couple of surprises i had planned sorta, er, backfired cos his ging-gang-gooli had plans for him. but hey, if you plan a surprise, be jolly prepared for the possible counter-surprise i say! c’est la vie.

i’m big on birthdays, especially my own. not always manifested in the scale in which i celebrate them. sometimes i want it really low-key and quiet. at times, i want it to be a small cosy affair with my inner circle. and then there are times when i feel like throwing a disco ball!

my next one isn’t that far away. i’m mind-plotting a Hokkaido escapade for a kani-onsen-rural triple combo.
