i just turned 33 2 hours ago (3 hours in Japan time). otanjiobi omedettou. frankly, it’s a number that appears scary, alien, and surreal to me. whilst many say it’s just a number, nothing to get too emotional over, birthdays mean alot to me. i cannot even explain why it is. it just is.

tears of joy and appreciation, more importantly gratitude flowed tonight. thank you Shaz (who just finished ironing Yasu’s shirt, well, technically Kenji’s cos he’s lending it to Yasu so he doesn’t have to wear his smokey-smelling shirt to work tmrw), Kenji (thanks for eveything), Enfee (who’s having her exams, together with Shaz), and Yasu (who’s just drifted into lalaland cos he’s so exhausted and has to be awake by 7 in the morning) for a wonderful wonderful birthday night.

what matters so much to me every year as i age, are that some things that are dear to me, stay the same, unwavering in their precious corners, even as time and tide waits not for me, not for anyone. i remind myself every year, that i need not lose myself cos there are still things and people who remember me, remember what i am, what i’ve always been, what i used to be.

thank you HH for calling. the way you spoke whilst i balled my eyes out spoke volumes of how much you understand me. thank you for believing in me and getting me, year after year.

thank you K-pok, for sms-ing. i got ur message. wish you were here. i believe some things never change.

thank you to the rest who surprised me by remembering my birthday. =)) means alot.

hito wa kawaii, kawaii mono desu ne.

it’s Saturday already! leaving for Tokyo tmrw night. spending my birthday in Tokyo again. *insert bliss* i plan to spend some time with Shaz, taking it easy, checking out all the menswear, grabbing super nice shoes, and just chilling out with a perfect view of the Imperial Palace + Mt Fuji.

PASSED WITH FLYING COLOURS!!

the inclination as i’ve suspected isn’t as high as the level 1 at my gym treadmill, even tho it’s set at a level 2. and the speed was set at 11.4km/hr for my Category Y1, so i’ve been training at an average of 11.6 – 12.2km/hr, sprinting at up to 15km/hr for the last 200 metres, as such my stamina was rather good for today’s test.

the final 3 minutes i was literally in a cruising zone cos i didn’t have to sprint, just maintain the same speed till end point. =)

the rest of the stations i did very well too, but didn’t try too hard in order to conserve energy. i’m just so glad it’s over. the guy next to me fell backwards off the treadmill and crashed into the wall behind. luckily they’ve started to put cushions against the walls cos this must happen quite often. there wasn’t any last year.

thanks for your prayers and well wishes and belief. once again, The Secret worked.

off to shower and then dins! Prive has a private function tonight so we’re going to Michaelangelos instead! fankeow!

i promise to write a “How To Pass IPPT At SAFRA Gym Guide” in order to help other fella comrades who’re scared of this dreadful rite of manhood, every year. i’ll pen it tonight with the event still fresh on my mind. =)

guess what arrived this morning? my Raf Simons shipment! goodies!! came at the right time cos i needed the distraction to take my mind off the DREADFUL IPPT test i’m having later on today (in less than 14 hours). i sorta start counting down 48 hours before the test. it just hangs over your neck like a ton of bricks. please pray for me that i won’t die of a burst lung on the treadmill. they make it so difficult to pass. plus i’m an old man already. *huff puff*

so yeah, i’m very pleased with my purchases.

gonna crash a bit earlier tonight so i am all rested for tmrw. meeting Elaine and Kenji for celebration dinner (haha, must think positive!). i think we’ll give Prive at Keppel Bay a try. =)

if i had been a more faithful reader of BryanBoy, i could have been in time to nab my pair of Raf Simons De Stilj Hiking Boots (aka the StormTrooper Boots). Seven New York are carrying them, but my size is no longer available. BIG SIGH. they cost a whopping $1895. the Astronaut High Sandals? SOLD OUT.

and whilst you’re at it, the 3 section detachable pant looks cool with the lobangs.

please meet the new members of my family!

here’s Magic Mushroom!! it contains the key ingredients to success: passion, dedication, drive, and a bulldozer mentality.

here’s Lingo. keeps me healthy and fights hunger pangs. smells great too.

this is Small Bird. he is no imitation copy. he’s just not erected excited yet. he has alot of love to give.

this is Seal. he’s totally white (as opposed to the other Seal), and has a slight problem with his identity. he thinks he’s a fishball.

sexy or what? i think he’ll make a wonderful bf (so real and down to earth, plus funny!) this song is so Jack Johnson. all summery and swaying palm trees…

he can du du du du, and didi di di di me anytime. hahahaha.

just when many doubt he could top his previous grammy nominated much acclaimed offering, he delivers a great so-sophomore album (technically his 3rd, but Mr A-Z was his breakout album)

if you register here, you’ll be privy to an exclusive 28-min documentary of Mraz on his European “tour”. it’s just him, his backpack, his guitar, and many great people he met along the way. you’ll love him more after watching it.

Distant Dreamer – Duffy

totally blasting and ripping my speakers with the last track on Duffy’s album (her hit single “Mercy” is doing great mileage on radios & dance clubs; and she’s not to be confused with the other “Duff” – Hilary Duff). great song with a little help from her songwriting partner – the brilliant guitarist and producer Bernard Butler (from Suede).

easily one of the best albums this season, and an instant classic with that 60s sound. gotta love Brit acts. her sound reminds me of a cross between Portishead + Amy Winehouse. please please please fetch it if you’re thinking of picking up some new music. i rarely hard sell any artistes (i dun even shove Akina down anyone’s throat, haha!). please support good work and artistes. thanks!! *end of public announcement*

such optimistic lyrics. so hopeful and forward looking. it’s my life anthem!

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOzzsQp5k5M]

Although you think I cope,
my head is filled with hope…
of some place other than here.

Although you think I smile,
inside all the while…
I’m wondering about my destiny.

I’m thinking about,
all the things,
I’d like to do in my life.

I’m a dreamer,
a distant dreamer,
dreaming for hope, from today.

Even when you see me frown,
my heart won’t let me down,
because I know there’s better things to come (Woah Yeah).

And when life gets tough,
I feel I’ve had enough,
I hold on to a distant star,

I’m thinking about,
all the things,
I’d like to do in my life…

I’m a dreamer,
A distant dreamer,
dreaming for hope from today.

I’m a dreamer,
A distant dreamer,
dreaming for hope from today.

Yeah, I’m a dreamer

Oooooooh…
Oooooooh…
Oooooooh…

I’m a dreamer,
a distant dreamer,
dreaming for hope from today,

Yeah i’m a dreamer…

Oooooooh…
Oooooooh…
Oooooooh…

I’m a dreamer.
