i’m in love with the theme song of “Rak haeng Siam” (Love of Siam) “Gun Lae Gun” (You & Me).
Two young boys are best friends living quiet family lives in Bangkok. Their lives are disrupted when one boy’s older sister goes missing on a jungle trip. The shattered family moves away, separating the boys. Years later, now in their late teens, the boys meet again. One of them is now the leader of an aspiring boy band whose managing assistant bears a striking resemblance to the lost sister. The boys must deal with their family and social lives and their feelings for each other.

Love of Siam (Rak haeng Siam) is directed by Chukiat Sakweerakul, who made the award-winning thriller 13 Beloved. He says it is the story of many kinds of love, as viewed through the eyes of Tong, a sixth-form student whose sister disappeared when he was still a child, and who carries around that emotional scar. When we first meet him, Tong has a girlfriend.
However, Tong slowly distances himself from her, after he is reunited with a childhood friend, Music. Music has a talent for singing and piano, and is trying to compose a love song for a music label. However, living alone without his parents, he has little experience of love himself, so Tong tries to help him.
Music has his own admirer, a girl living next door. She and Tong’s girlfriend have one thing in common: they can’t seem to get the attention of the man they want.
Through Music, Tong meets a girl who runs his band. June looks remarkably like his sister, who went missing on a trip to the North years before. Since she left, Tong’s father has been a miserable drunk. With his mother, Tong hatches a plan to hire the girl to look after Dad, in the hope that having her around will make his father better.
Many of the film’s key moments take place in Siam Square, a popular teenage hangout in Bangkok. Director Chukiart, 26, says he started writing the script when he was a student at Chulalongkorn University, which is nearby. ‘People meet lovers, fall apart, go out with friends, laugh, and cry in Siam Square,’ he says. ‘It’s a classic, but it has been years since a film was set there.’
At the Pantip webboard, posters are asking whether it is a ‘Y’ film (gay). Judging by the production notes, that’s just a small part of it. These are young people, after all, who are still in search of what love for them means, and where to place their loyalties: to girlfriends and boyfriends, parents, siblings, friends, or all of the above.

the tagline “Just Ask Yourself Who You Think of When You Are Listening To Love Song” may read a tad off grammatically and would have made more sense if they had enclosed ‘Love Song’ in inverted commas, cos i think that’s the title of the song Music wrote for Tong in the end. but then again, in the spirit of the song, it didn’t have to make sense to anyone else, apart from who the song was meant for.
i’m trying to get tickets for the Director’s Cut (or rather uncut?) which runs a full 3 hours and 40 min tmrw. there’s only one cinema screening it in it’s entirety and they only have 2 screenings. tix for the weekend are already sold out. wish me luck.
i so want to grab a coffee from the Starbucks in Siam Square now and toast to love. will do that tmrw.

i just discovered Regina Spektor. i got hooked the moment i heard her cover of Peggy Lee’s “My Dear Acquaintance-A Happy New Year” and made it her own. i need to download that song!!

this is a great trippy remix of “Fidelity” by Morgan Page. unreleased.

Mi juz sent these photos (check out the panoramic shots with freaky Medusa Khim) we took ages ago at Ma Maison (really great Jap style Western food at reasonable prices) when Baby (who is now preggers with Baby #2, actually that’s a total of 3 babies!) was back last year. i miss you guys!!!
one of my new year resolutions is to help those in need, and i’m glad people are coming to me when they need help. laws of attraction in motion! this is my way of giving back, for the good things i’ve received these past 2 years. it’s all good. =)
i gotta make a trip down to D&G soon (Sunday maybe?). i’m itching to ransack through their Spring/Summer Collection! incidentally, i was ploughing through the latest issue of of ARENA and i swear the guys mixed up D&G’s SS Collection with Jil Sander’s. i mean, i know Raf Simons inside out, those can’t be Jil Sander!! anyway, i popped Michael Chiang a lil sms and he did think it was a sacrilegious faux pas. i hope i didn’t get anyone into trouble.

okay i’m kinda 4 beats behind on this (sorry after her last embarrassing album i pretty much switched off), but i just realised Janet’s new album “Discipline” from her new label will be released in late Feb, and i’m digging her lead single “Feedback” (by Rodney Jerkins) with remixes from current hotshot Timbaland, and check out the AWESOME video. now this is SO MUCH better. that 20YO in 2006 was a mega flop and a great letdown for fans. but this, i can feel it!!!

according to CNN, the new song was the subject of 1.34 million blogs around the world in a matter of 5 hours, and radio stations across the country were swamped with hundreds of thousands of phone calls to play the song, making “Feedback” the most successful debut leak in music history. major radio station websites were stalled because traffic for the song spiked near ninety percent. no other leak has generated this much buzz and anticipation (hmm, i’m sure Akina’s “Dear Friend” did).

Discipline due Feburary 26, 2008 is slated to be club-oriented. the album is being recorded without Janet’s long-term collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (BIG YAY!! it’s about time!). no prizes for guessing why after dismal sales for 20YO.
did i mention i love her new album cover? it’s arresting and fierce! what a great departure from her usual style. single cover’s tres hot too. this is the JJ i love.

here’s a short “deleted scene”. kekeke.
CRANK IT UP GIVE IT TO ME, JJ! YEAH!

hee haw!! it was a great concert considering Jay was sick. the dude can sing live. but even tho he’s alot better now being able to DO the steps, he still can’t dance. i guess god is fair then. Jolin cannot dance, AND she cannot sing. oh dear, i’m so mean. i’m a meanie! okay lah, there’s this one song of hers i can accept – Ri Bu Luo. kekekeke. but that’s cos i am a disco whore.
i also realise Jay doesn’t have an star-aura but the beauty is he translates very well on screen. the best part of the concert was the crowd. they stole the show. super high energy from beginning till the end. i was very impressed by the screams these 3 crazy girls next to us could belt out. for 2 hours non-stop! high-pitched, with power. and very consistent.
